Creed ■ Meredith, of Wanganui, who left New Zealand recently on a health trip to England, was forced to leave the steamer at Port Said to undergo an operation, which was successful. Mr. F. M. Neall, of the Atlantic Union Oil Company, Philadelphia, arrived at Wellington on Monday from Sydney. He will' spend two weeks in New 21ealand, joining the Aorangi at Auckland on his return to the United States. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, left last evening for Wellington, where he will attend a meeting of a special committee set up by the Municipal Association executive to the Transport Bill. He was accompanied by Mr. A. E." Ford, manager of the board, and Mr. J. Stanton, the board's solicitor.
