POWER BOARD'S REVENUE.
RETURNS FOR PAST QUARTER. "FIGURES VERY SATISFACTORY." Figures showing the power generated and the revenue received by the Auckland Power Board during the quarterly period ended on June 30 were presented by the chairman, Mr. W. J. Iloldsworth, at a meeting of the board yesterday. " The figures arc very satisfactory, and although the allowances we have made will make a difference, they show that we are still on the upward grade," Mr. Holdsworth said.
The returns given were as follows, those of the corresponding period of last year being given in parentheses:—Units generated, 36,570,745 (34,800.602); units sold, 30,057,237 ( 28,231,256). revenue, £181,698 (£178,083); discounts allowed, £11,719 (£7488); net revenue £169,979 (£170,595); average net return per unit sold, 1.3572 d (1.4677 d).
Mr. E. H. Potter asked whether the figures meant that the board still had a surplus of power which might bo sold. The general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, said there was a surplus of from 7000 to 8000 kilowatts, but King's Wharf station was running under the most economical method, as some of the old plant was not being used. However, it was there if it should be wanted. No trouble was being experienced with the new grates, which were being " nursed." Information was being awaited from Australia before the boilers were run at their full capacity.
