WOMEN BUYING TROUSERS
MANY ORDERS AT DRESS SHOW. BEACH,. DAY AND EVENING. The trousers for woriien movement scored another success recently, in spite of the criticism levelled against it. Many women ordered suits for all occasions—beach, day and evening—at a dress show held at the Marquise de Casa Maury's Grosvenor Street house, states a London paper. So enthusiastic were they ' about trousers of all materials from wool-crochet to crepe de chine that they bought them first and then asked, " When shall I wear this? Day or evening? Or in the garden at home?" The designer had catered for the changing English climato with a complete beach rig. Over the thin blue crepe de chine suit could be slipped a second part of beige woolly trousers, made liko the " Leander bags" favoured by Oxford j rowing men. , Wide " Bags " o! Black Silk. The 1 woman who wanted an all-day trousering for beach or evening could have very wide " bags " made of thick black silk that' does not spot with sea water. With this went a decollete white blouse with huge black spots. Knitted and crocheted bathing suits were accompanied by sailor trousers of drill or knitted wool. * One woman who disliked long trousers ordered brief beige shorts of natural camel-hair, with a boyish shirt to match. Evening pyjamas were very arresting. One suit of heavy ice-blue satin had the trousers cut very full, with a decollete top, and Was accompanied not only by a short-sleeved hip-length jacket, but also by tight satin mitten-sleeves topped at the elbow with broad bands of fur. Pyjamas, so fashionable by day, are no longer worn for their original purpose. At this show nearly every lingerie set included a night-dress, cut like an evening dress, usually flared, with a short jacket to match. ' '
