"GIRLS AND BOYS."

WHY I READ It.

I find it a most difficult matter to state "clearly and definitely why I lead Girl* and Boys " -page each week. I ; find I am drawn to it and attracted by it because it "lives." The girls and boys, when' they write, whether it be in letters or in comnetition stories, write freely and naturally. There is one thing only that could make modern children do this, and that is R realisation that when they wnto they aro in touch with a big, understanding heart that will never grow old-a heartthat fitill feels the thrills and excitement of childJiopd and enters into all their pleasures, . mains and difficulties. . T read it because it is a pleasure so to-do Then again, I feel obliged to read it for if I could not freely discuss all that is in it with my children, they would 1 place me on a less exalted pedestal than they °l^ead^i t'oo, because it often gives me the comfortable feeling of wanting to shake . hands witli the editor, for it tends in rach s wonderful way to develop the spait of iinselfishness and sacrifice and reverence ; which are so necessary to our girls and i boys of to-day. _ .... T x.%„i Yet another reason I might give. I feel that in reading " Girls and Boys ? jn an indirect way, showing appreciation t a very fine work which is being done for our children by a very fine newspaper. I am glad to have had this opportunity of texpressiiig my appreciation of " Girls and Turner, The Vicarage, To Aroha.
