Spiith-westerly * winds, moderate to strong, veering by west to north, thon freshening again, and increasing strong to gale. Seas moderating temporarily, then increasing, and becoming rough again generally. Local outlook : Unsettled, with rain. Cold temporarily. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as. follows:—The recent cyclone has passed away eastwards, but a slight secondary one has been centred tQ-day near the East Capo. A weak anti* cyclone is crossing the Tasman Sea with its centre in the north, but a new cyclone has dovelopcd on the south coast of New South Wales. Indications aro for moderate to strong, but decreasing south* erly winds north of Westport and Kaikoura, later tending northerly, elsewhere variable with northerlies prevailing. Seas still rather rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but soon moderating, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Variable winds, but notherlies soon setting in and later freshening in the eastern Tasman Sea. Seas moderate, but later rising. There will still be , some scattered showers, mainly between the East Capo and Cook Strait, but the weather will soon become fine generally, with cold temperatures. The fine spell, however, is likely to be of brief duration.
