EXPELLED FROM SPAIN.
ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIMATE. COMPLAINT OF INDIGNITIES. STRONG COMMENT IN MADRID. NEW'MONARCHIST MOVE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyricht. (Received June 17, 0.15 p.m.) LONDON, June IG. After his deportation from Spain, Cardinal Sogura, Primate at Madrid, stated: "I was treated like a common criminal. Apparently the Republican regime does not permit courtesy either to grey hairs or to a Primate and prince of the Church. " I fear that the present terrorism, against the opponents of Republicanism and Socialism will produce irreligious Courts, the laws of which will tend to destroy the Roman Catholic Church of Spain." The Rome correspondent of the Times says the Vatican has protested to Spain against the expulsion of Cardinal Segura. Despatches from Madrid state that the clerical and monarchist newspapers are indignant at the expulsion of Cardinal Segura. El Debate asks whether the Government wishes to provoke civil war and suggests that the actions of members of the Cabinet are calculated to force Roman Catholics to abandon their present legal tactics. La Tierra, which is the organ of the parties of the Left, alleges that there is a strong movement among the Roman Catholic radical elements in northern Spain to place Don Jaime on the throne. Funds and munitions have been accumulated for the purpose. Don-Jaime is a descendant of tiie Pretender, Don Carlos, whose supporters are constantly crossing the frontier from their headquarters at Bayonne.
