TRAMS TO THE STATION.

CONNECTION WITH TRAINS. COMPLAINT FROM PAPATOETOE. "It is generally understood that trams run to the station to connect with trains, but according to the chairman of the Auckland Traasport Board this is not the case," remarked Mr. S. ■J. E. Closev, president of the Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce, at a meeting last evening. Mr. Closey said complaints had been made that trains had been failing to connect with trains, and a reply had been received asking for specific instances. Several instances, including one in which the tram had arrived two minutes after the last evening train had departed, had been furnished, and the board now replied that the trams were not run to the statiod to connect with any trains, ; One would naturally ask, said Mr. Closey, the purpose of running trams if they did not aim at connecting with the trains arriving and departing. Mr. H. C. Ernest suggested that the matter be brought to the notice of the newly-formed Railways Board- He moved that the board be asked for an expression of its policy in regard to suburban traffic, and whether it intended to foster it. On. ieceipt of a reply the chamber could determine what action it would take in connection with the handling of traffic between the station and the city. The motion was carried unanimously.
