JOKE ON THE REFEREE. An amusing incident occurred on Saturday during the progress of the MaristBllerslie Rugby League match, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by at least one player. Oliff was in the Act of placing the ball into tho scrum, when Donovan, the Marist hooker, reached to the ground and' picked up 1 a shilling. The rcfereo promptly penalised Donovan, being under the impression that ho hooked the ball with, his hand.

Th joke was all the more enjoyed when Donovan handed the coin to a spectator on the ride-line..
