Tho final recital in Auckland will bo giveh by Mischa Levitzki this evening, •when an extra concert has been arranged. PMr. Levitzki will subsequently complete ]iis tour of the southern towns of tho Dominion, and will conclude his New Zealand visit early next month. Ho expects ito leave for America in. July, where he jwill have a month's rest at his New (Jersey home "before undertaking a tour ;of Europe, which will occupy his timo jontil the end of the year. Preparations have been put in hand for' the celebration of Music Week in New Plymouth, which will commence oil 'August 1. In spito of a feeling in some quarters that tho celebrations might be postponed for a year, it has been decided to continue with tho work, and the organisers are confident of making their effort a great success. In connection with the week's activities there will bo an oratorio festival at which Haydn's " Creation " will bo presented. Invitations have been issued to all musical societies and individual singers to help swell tho numbers of those taking part. /The season of the Ethel Morrison Comedy Company at His Majesty's Theatre is meeting with the success'which it eminently deserves. The second play in tho company's repertoire, " Let Us Bo Gay," was presented on Wednesday oveiling, and was noted for the fine performance of every member of the company. Miss Morrison makes a particular success of the part of tho tyrannous old lady, Mrs. Boucicault, and Miss Mary McGregor has already created something of a sensation for her acting of the leading feminine role as Mrs. Brown. " Let Us Be Gay " will be presented until Tuesday, (when Noel Coward's brilliant comedy, '.' Hay Fever," will bo presented for a peiison of five nights. /Th» members of the J. C. Williamson Gilbert and Sullivan Company at the [Theatre Royal, Melbourne, consider themselves the hardest-worked company that lias ever appeared there. They have had %o, work like a grand opera company, whose work is never finished, for no sooner is one production staged than they are preparing another. This has been the case ever since the company was organised, and nearly every day in the week they have been rehearsing. This has been pecessary in getting ready a repertoire of / at least seven operas for the Melbourne season, and when the company goes to Sydney they will continue rehearsing the operas that are to be staged there, as well as three or four others .which are to be added to the existing repertoire. As one of the artists said: ?' Musical comedy is a picnic compared Jwith Gilbert and Sullivan."
