MILK CONTROL PLAN.
CITY COUNCIL'S VIEW. MATTER FOR GOVERNMENT. Following Iho recent conference at which the milk control board scheme was laid before delegates from Auckland local bodies by representatives of milk producers and vendors, a report was presented to the City Council last evening by a special sub-committee consisting of the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, and Messrs. G. Grey Campbell and T. Bloodworth. The report staled: —"The committee is impressed with the representations made by representatives of the milk industry regarding many unsatisfactory features connected with the supply and distribution of milk; so far as these are economic it considers it outside the function of the council to intervene; so far as they are likely prejudicially to affect the health of consumers, or entail an unreasonable price, and are not already regulated by existing legislation, the committee considers that they call for consideration of the Government, and if Parliament'should pass legislation setting up a board of control as suggested by the milk interests, the committee recommends that the council as representing the consumers within the city area should have appropriate representation.'' The council approved the report for consideration with those to be furnished by the other local bodies concerned.
