TAMAKI LIBRARY.
OPENING TO-MORROW. The new Tamaki branch library, which will be opened by the chairman of the City Council's Library Committee, Miss E. Melville, to-morrow afternoon, will commence its operations with a stock of approximately 1500 volumes, about 1000 of which will be found in the lending department and the remainder divided between the children's section and the adult reading-room. In addition to this the library will be supplied with periodicals. The library building, formerly the Tamaki Road Board office, is constructed in brick and was easily converted to its new purpose. The library occupies two rooms immediately adjacent to the main entrance, each 25ft. by 15ft., one of which will be devoted to a lending department capable of accommodating over 3000 volumes The other room will be used as a reading-room for adult 6 and children. Provision has been made hero for 24 readers at tables. The walls will be decorated with paintings transferred from the Art Gallery, It is proposed to open the library at Avondale on June 27.
