DANCE FOR DEBUTANTES.
REVIVAL OF COTILLON.
FLOWERS AND FAVOURS
A very delightful dance for debutantes was given by I)r. Allan and Dr. Margaret Knight at their home in Landscape Road last evening. The rooms had been charmingly decorated with bowls of early narcissi, hydrangeas, and flaming poker flowers, and in the room where dancing took place large clusters of vari coloured balloons wero suspended from the ceiling. Supper was served in an adjoining room. A feature of the evening was the dancing of the cotillon, which liad been organised by Madame Bajrd, and the figures which were carried out were vei*y graceful, varied and extremely decorative. There wero four of these, one of which was particularly in accord with racing clay, with the wearing of jockeys' caps by the dancers and the use of whips and reins. In another, balloons were used and other favours in the succeeding figures. Another dance of a past period which was thoroughly enjoyed was Sii Roger do Coverley, with which the evening ended. The guests on arriving wero received by Dr. Allan and Dr. Margaret Knight in the dance room, the latter wearing a frock of poppy red ring velvet embroidered with silver and diamante. Among those who wero present were Lady Norah Jellicoe, who was wearing a frock of delicate rose pink georgette with a coatee of rose pink taffeta; Mrs. J. Holmes, black lace with a deep border of cream lace at tho foot of the skirt; Mrs. W. W. Dove, ashes of roses coloured lace; Mrs. T. H. Oakes, bronze green lace; Mrs. V. A. C. Crutchley, brown laco frock; Mrs. Jolly, black and white printed chiffon; Mrs. Robson, biack georgette with a coatee of red chenille velvet; Mrs. Alan Donald, white georgette; Madame Baird, black sequinned georgette with scarlet shoulder flower; Mrs. Hugh Fenton, grey silk patterned with tiny sprigs of roses; Mrs. J. 1). Prentice, black lace and georgette; Mrs. Dignan, rose patterned pink chiffon; Mrs. K. B. Gunson, black marocain; Miss Shaylo George, white chenille embossed georgette; Mrs. MacPherson, rose satin with hem of silver threaded lace; Miss Mary Milsom, blue satin beaute; Miss Joan Tolhurst, lemon flowered taffeta: Miss Joan Shaylo George, white frilled tulle frock, caught with white camellias at the waist; Miss Jean Carnegie Brown, frock of frilled beige lace; Miss Averill, forget-me-not blue ripple ninon; Miss Joan Robertson, carnation red satin; Miss Shayle George (Christchurch), pink taffeta and gold threaded lace; Miss Jocelyn Bloomfield, while satin beaute; Miss Althea Parker, white embossed chenille georgette; Miss Betty Wilson, delphinium blue satin; Miss A. Alison, Naples blue satin frock; Miss Laura Mappin, apricot georgette with lines of diamante'; Miss Wilson, saxe blue satin; Miss J. Hudson, blue georgette; Miss Kilty Horsley, shrimp pink satin beaute: Miss Joyce llerdman, pale pink taffeta.
