RESTRICTIONS proposed
REPORT OF COMMISSION
LOXDOX, June 5. A preliminary majority report by the Royal Commission on Unemployment Insurance recommends drastic changes aiming at balancing the fund. It proposes to reduce the benefits to the majority o£ the workers also to increase payments to the insurance fund by the employer, worker and State respectively. Further, the report recommends that the benefits now available for 74 weeks continuously should be limited to 26 weeks. • . A minority report disagrees with all the recommendations. Tho general opinion in Parliamentary circles is that the Government is not likely to attempt to carry out the recommendations. Labour members of the House of Commons express tho opinion that the report is not even worth serious consideration.
