DRAGGED UNDER TRAIN.
INDIAN SERIOUSLY HURT.
JUMPS OFF BACKWARD.
ACTING-GUARD'S PROMPTNESS. [FROSI OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.} HAMILTON. Sunday. The prompt action of Mr. J. W. Snelgar, acting-guard on the Hamilton to Auckland excursion train, saved the life of Sukha Farsot, an Indian hawker, at the Frankt-on railway station this evening. Farsot had been dragged beneath the moving train when Mr. Snelgar gave the order to stop. Farsot, who resides at Greenwood Street, Frankton Junction, had accompanied several of his countrymen to see some friends off. He delayed his departure until tho train was in motion and jumped backward on to tho platform. As he jumped his coat was caught and he was dragged beneath the carriage. Mr. Snelgar saw tho incident and caused the train to be pulled up within a few yards. It was found that the wheels had not passed over Farsot, bub he had received severe scalp wounds and an injury to the right shoulder. He was removed to the Waikato Hospital, where he lies in a serious condition.
