RIFLEMEN'S REUNION.
FIRST GATHERING HELD
A successful reunion of former members of tlio New Zealand Rifle Brigade was lipid on Saturday evening in the Tasman Building, Ansae Avenue, more tlian 250 ex-members of all ranks being present. The function was tlio first of its kind held, although the idea of bringing former riflemen together had been in the minds of the organisers for a number of years. The chairman was Mr. P. A. Salmon, and the president of tlio Returned Soldiers' Association, Sir George Richardson, and other members of the executive, as well as representatives of kindred associations, were present. The toast of the brigade was proposed by Lieutenant-Colonel L. M. Shera, who referred to the brigade's splendid record in Egypt and France, 1 lie toast being replied to by Major G. E. Simeon. The toasts nf "Departed Comrades" and "Absent Friends" were proposed by Mr. J. R. McArthur and Major G. P. O'fihaiinassy respectively. The function was organised by the chairman, Major Simeon, and Messrs. J. C. Holland, C. F. Fowler, A. Turner, \V. M. Radford, J. R. McArthur and 11. J. Aekins, who acted as the executive committee, and arc to arrange a similar gathering next year.
