THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE
A QUIET MORNING
Only one sale was put through on the Auckland Slock Exchange on Saturday No business was recorded in (he giltedge group, although there was a steady inquiry for a fair range of securities. Hie market for Bank of New Zealand shares lost a further 6d to see a sale at 48s, the lowest prico since l'ebruaiy, when the market touched the lowest point in recent years at 42s 6d. New South Wales were sought at £24, which is £1 below the price at which the last salo was made. Insurances were very quiet, sellers of New Zealands at 41s 9d failing to draw a buying quotation. South British were sought at 50s 6cl, compared with a sale the previous day at 51s. In the Loan and Agency group Golds-brough-Moris, prior to the announcement of the dividend, were offered at 19s 9d without drawing a buying quotation. Auckland Gas were very firm, with buyers at 23s not attracting a selling quotation. Buyers of British Tobaccos dropped a further 6d to 22s 6d. Wilsons Cements were easier, with sellers at 39s 9d not drawing a buying quotation. Mining was quiet, quotations showing practically no movement.
