CRUSHED BY FALL OF COAL. EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. [by telegraph.—press association.] INVERCAKGILL. Thursday. At tho inquest into the death of Thomas Dixon, who was killed in the Wairaki mine by a fall of coal, John Craig, who was working with deceased and filling a box, said the coal camo down without warning. They were taking down the top coal and were pillaring. A shot had been fired in a different place and ho rsoundod the roof with a sounding irftn and it seemed hard. The coroner found that deceased met his death by being crushed by a fall of coal.
