"THE FIRST MRS. ERASER."
Auckland theatre-goers have not been slow to appreciate " Tho First Mrs. Eraser," the St. John Ervine comedy being presented at His Majesty's Theatre by the J. C. Williamson company. It is an excellent examplo of English comedy, smartly conversational and adroitly contrived in its situations. Dealing satirically with the modern problem of divorce, it shows Mr Eraser, after 20 years of married life, divorced from his wife and married to a young woman pf 25, whose careless manner of living and utter lack of responsibility bring despair and disillusionment in their train. The endeavours of the practical Scotsman to escape the artfulness of his second wife and convinco tho first Mrs. Eraser of his abiding love for her, provide material for some delightful comedy. Miss Ethel Morrison is oxcellent in tho title-role and other leading players are Miss Mary MacGregoi and J. B. Rowe. There will bo a matinee performance to-morrow afternoon. On Wednesday " Let Us Be Gay " will opon a season and later "Hay Fever" will lio staged.
