THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

QUIET TRADING DONE,

Quiet trading was recorded on the Auckland Stock E.vchange yesterday. Interest was spread over a wide range. In the gilt-edge group, 1933, per cent. Inscribed Stock gained 2s 6d to sell at £9B 2s 6(1. A sale of Auckland Harbour Board debentures, 1941, 6 per cent., was reported from late on Tuesday at the current price of £lOl 10s. In the banking section a late sale of New South Wales was reported from Tuesday at £25, and a further sale was put through during the morning at that, price. New Zealands eased slightly and were available at the last call at, 495. Unions had their first Auckland sale for nearly a fortnight at the unchanged price of £7 9s. South British Insurance shares were dealt in at 51s, the current price, more being wanted at that figure. Buyers of New Zealands eased 3d to 40s 9d, Auckland Gas had two current-price sales at 235. New Zealand Breweries were sought at 34s 6d, compared with 35s on Tuesday. British Tobaccos had their first sale since the announcement of the lower dividend at 24s lid, which is a fall of 5s 4Ad. Colonial Sugars eased, buyers oltering £32 at the close, compared with £33 10s on Tuesday. Wilsons Cements were also easier, with sellers at 40s at the close unsupported by buyers. Waihis were again dealt in at 14s 7d. Waihi Junctions lost Id to sell at 2s lid.
