HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. CLOUDY TO OVERCAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. 10-dav was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—The area of high barometric pressure, is still located over the Dominion. Owing to the development of tropical influences northwestward of the North Island the system has developed weaknesses in its northern extremity. Indications point to cloudy to overcast weather conditions, with variable and light breezes, easterly to northeasterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing shortly and freshening. Seas smooth to moderate generally Locai outlook:—Cloudy to overcast, with a tendency for slight, drizzling showers at times. Mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady . . 30.25 in. Midnight, Tuesday . . . . 30.20iri, Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 60dcg.; Minimum. 49deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand and the Tasman Sea, while a series of slight low-pressuro waves is moving to southwards. Indications are for variablo winds, with moderate southerlies prevailing north of New Plymouth and Napier, and north-westerly to westerly winds thence southward, freshening at times in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas rather rough in Foveaux Strait, but generally smooth to moderate. Light to moderate westerly to south-westerly winds with moderate seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. The weather will be fair to cloudy generally, but some isolated showers are probable on the west coast of the South Island and in the far north and south. RAINFALL RECORD.
