RAIN HELPS THE BOWLERS. *' LONDON, June 2. Rain continues to spoil the county cricket games. Tho results were as follows : Essex v. Northamptonshire.—Essex: First innings, 271 (Bray 100); second innings, six for 150, declared (Jupp five for 62). Northamptonshire: First innings, 147 (Smith four for 55); second innings, 169 (Bakewell 90 not out). Essex won by 105 runs. Surrey v. Lancashire. —Surrey: First innings, 311 (Shepherd /3, Iddon four for 36); second, innings, four for 185 (Shepherd 73). Lancashire: First innings, six for 397, declared (Ilopwood 165 not out). Lancashire won on the first innings. Nolls v Somerset. —Notts: I'irst innings, seven for 379, declared (A. Staples 113, Walker 135); second innings, none for 29. Somerset: First innings, 67 (Larwood seven for 25); follow-on, 338 (Whito 100). Notts won by ten wickets. Kent v. Yorkshire.—Kent: First innings, four for 296 (Woolley 188), versus Yorkshire. Match drawn.. Derbyshire v. Sussex. Derbyshire: First innings, 343 (Storer 74, Alderman 87 not out). Sussex: First innings, 67 (Mitchell six for 11); follow-on, 88 (Mitchell six for 19). Derbyshire won by an innings and .183 runs. Worcestershire v. Gloucestershire.— Worcestershire: First innings, 178 (Parker seven for 85); second innings, 248 (Gibbons 71, Goddard four for 26). Glou cestershire: First innings, 207; second inn ings, 118 (Root four-for 38). Worcestershire won by 101 runs.
Leicestershire v. Glamorgan.—Leicestershire : First innings, 127. Glamorgan: First innings, four for 46. Match drawn. Hampshire v.
