Tlie .Auckland Tracing Chili's Winter Meeting will be opened at Ellerslic to-day, when the chief event will be the Great Northern Hurdles, New Zealand's most richly-endowed hurdle race. Tho various events have drawn exceptionally good fields and the prospects for keen racing are very bright. The course is heavy after the rain that has fallen lately and the conditions will favour horses with a partiality for soft going.
