PROGRESS OF LODGES.

GOOD TEMPLARS' ACTIVITIES. The Endeavour Lodge, 1.0. G.T., had a fine attendance of members and visitors at its meeting last Wednesday evening, the Chief Templar, Bio. Watts, presiding. A motion of sympathy with Bro. Eaton in his recent sad loss was carried. Bro. Rubie, of ILM.S. Diomcde, was reported to be seriously ill in Wellington Hospital, and members expressed the hope that this popular brother would soon be restored again to health. The programme of tho evening was announced as a " bring and. buy" night, with the result that many useful parcels were quickly disposed of. Bro. Burnett contributed two elocutionary items, which were greatly appreciated. The capacity of tho Onehunga lodge room was :axed to the utmost on Monday, May 125, when Court Pride of Onehunga, A.0.F., held its quarterly meeting together with the election and installation of officers. An official visit was received from the chief ranger, officers and members oi Court Pride of Newmarket, Bro. R. G. Barnes, P.D.C.R.; Bro. G. Jamieson, D.J.8., and Bio. S. King, P.D.C.R., tho last two attending as installing oflicers. The election of officers for tho eii.'iuing term created much interest and resulted in the following being presented for installation:—Chief ranger, Bro. R. T. Barnes; sub-chief ranger, Bro. J. Backhurst; junior woodward, Bro. B. Scott; senior woodward, Bro. N. Fletcher; senior beadle, Bro. W. Dal by; junior beadle, Bro. J. Duffy. The ceremony was ably carried out by the installing officers. On behalf of the court Bro. F. Bartlett presented a P.C.R's. sash and certificate to P.C.R., Bro. T. Heigh way, who suitably responded. At the close of (ho meeting refreshments were served, after which the visitors played a bowling match against the Onehunga Court, this being one of tho series for the silver cup now bein,T competed for by the various Foresters' Courts in tho city and suburbs. After a keen struggle the home team proved victorious.

The Star of Newmarket Lodge, U.A.0.D., held its fortnightly meeting on Wednesday last., the Arch Druid, Bro. Andrew, presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors. A motion of sympathy was passed with Bro. W. Smart in the loss of his son, and with the relatives of the late Bro. Malleson, P.A. The chief business of the evening was the nomination and election of officers, which resulted in Bro. Andrew being elected J.P.A., Bro. Bush, A.D.; Bro. Lowe, V. A.; Bro. Mitchell, 1.G.; Bro. Donnelly, 0.G.; Bros. Cnrdwell and Gavin, A.D.B.'s, and Bros. Lenfer nncl Lowrv, V.A.B.'s. At the conclusion of the business of the lodge the following brethren contributed to a musical programme: Bros. Corbett. Potter, Hough, Polkinghornc, Page, Mackay, Wade and 1. Wilson.

At its last meeting the Loyal Good Intent Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., had a large attendance and dealt with a good deal of business. The election of officers foi the new term was hold, with the result that for tho next six months Bro. J. Hoiilahan will be 1.P.N.G., Sister Mcßae, N.G., and Bro. J. Graham, these officers being elected unopposed, tor the office of elective secretary, four nominations were received, and on a ballot being taken Bro. Newbolt was declared elected. Owing to the resignation of Sister Thayer as sick visitor, Sister Mcßae received appointment to the vacancy, eulogistic reference being made to the valued help given by Sister Thayer while in that position. Arrangements were put in hand for the ann.ial ball of the lodge, also for the installation ceremony, which is to be hclcl next lodge night.

The Young Endeavour Juvenile Temple, 1.0.G.T, had a record attendance at its last, meeting, when Sister 0. Tainton, C.T., presided, ably assisted by the superintendent, Sis. Mrs. llodgkinson. An official visit was received from the Grand Superintendent of Educational Work, Bro. E. llodgkinson, who was given a royal welcome. On behalf of the G.S.J.W., Bro. Ronnie, of Christcburch, Bro. Hodgkinson presented to the temple the Guest Shield, which has been won in competition against juvenile temples throughout New Zealand. This shield will bo held for 193 L Congratulations were received from grand lodge officers and the Southern loc'ges and temples. The superintendent replied on behalf of the officers and members, and urged all her young hearers always to live up to the ideals of their order.

Tho monthly degree meeting of the Epsom Lodge No. 88. 1.0.0. F., was held in the Royal Oak Hall, Bro. .T. Arnott presiding over a good attendance. Iwo brothers from Epsom Lodge and one from Ellerslie received their second degree, the ceremony being carried out in a dignified and impressive manner by the Epsom degree team. The noble grand, officers and members of the Ellerslie Lodge were present officially and were welcomed cordially. The visiting N.G. congratulated the Epsom team on their splendid performance that evening, and conveyed the fraternal greetings of his lodge. Bro. Arnott reciprocated the greetings and thanked the visitor for his kind remarks. He invited the Ellerslie brethren to attend tho third degree meeting, when a bowling tournament will be held at the conclusion of the. business, Otabuhu and Tvnsom teams wishing to meet Ellerslie in a friendly encounter. After supper four fowling matches wero played.

An enthusiastic social meeting was held in the Knmeu Hall last Thursday evenin'l' in order to form a. Rebekah branch oMhe 1.0.0. F. Lodge of the Waitemata district. Bro. 11. B. Stevens, noble grand of the Haercmai Lodge, presided over an attendance of about 60 intending members. Sister Houghton, lady district deputy grand, addressed the meeting, outlining the aims and objects of a Rebekah Lodge. Addresses were also given by Bio. Olson, district deputy grand of Waitemata, and Bro. Potter, pastdoputv grand. It, was unanimously decided'to hold the first installation meeting in June, and the following officers were elected:—Noble grand. _ Mrs. H. Stevens; vice-grand, Mrs. \\. Collins; financial secretary, Mrs. 11. Gould; incording secretary. Miss E. Gould; treasurer, Mrs. Radford. At the close of the business supper was served, and was followed by a dance.

The annual installation of officers in tho Loyal Hot Springs Oddfellows' Lodge was performed by Bro. AV. J. Neels. P.D.G.M., from Morrinsville. Officers were installed as follows: —f.I'.N.G., Bro. J. G. Bailey; N.G., Bro. 0. E. Barlow; V.G. Bro. L. Signil; elective secretary, P.ro F. A. Miller: warden, Bro. K. R Boyd; R.S.N.G., Bro. F. Bath. P.CI. ; L.S.N.G., Bro. A. J. Maurice; R.S.V.G., Bro. F. J. Douglas; L.S.V.ft.. Bro. F. V/. Fairey: guardian, Bro. R. Barlow; conductor, Bro. F. S. Farmer. At the conclusion of the ceremony the secretary, Bro. 0. Bowie. P.G., was presented with ,-i gold bar from the Auckland district council, in recognition of his services in introducing a record of 40 new financial members to the lodge.
