FORGERY AND PERJURY.
TARANAKI CHARGES PROVED.
SEQUEL TO EARLIER CASE,
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Tuesday.
Charges of forgery, uttering a false document and perjury were proved against Gordon Leonard Taylor, a dairy factory worker, of Tariki, in the Supreme Court to-day. The jury made a strong recommendation to mercy and sentence was deferred.
The charges arose out of a Magistrate's Court case at Stratford, where Taylor produced and swore to a receipt which he had altered for payments allegedly received for a motor-car purchased from F. A. Newton. It was at the direction of Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., that the police instituted the present proceedings.
