GRAPHITE PAINT ON ROOFS.
Sir, —I sincerely hope (hat the recent fatality at Grey Lynn will at least result in something definite being done to prohibit the use of graphite paint ori roofs and that when Mr. Hunt, S.M.. brings the matter under tho notice of the authorities it will not be allowed to lie dormant. As a plumber of some years' experience, may 1 bring under the notice of (lie public what a deathtrap the use dt this material for painting roofs can be, and which, in the recent« case at Grey Lynn, has cost the life of a well-known and valued tradesman. Legislation against its use will be none too soon. 1 might quote numbers of cases where it has been disastrous, but only those who have worked on roofs painted with it can fully realise tin; danger, even on an almost flat roof. I venture to suggest that insurance companies could very well afford to take this matter up, also that the whole of the building trades' and architects should take steps to end the use of it for purposes attended with such danger.
