ALLEGED THREAT TO SHOOT.
ARREST OF LABOURER. "NO AMMUNITION IN RIFLE." A charge of threatening to shoot Edward Cecil Stewart was preferred against Ernest Charles Wendel, aged 39, labourer (Mr. Cocker), in the Police Court yesterday. " I will ask for a week's remand in this case as I would like further inquiries to be made," said Detective-Sergeant Kolh'. " This man threatened to shoot his sister and his step-father on Saturday. It. is true he had 110 ammunition at the time, but I think he should at least be bound over." " While the offence is serious on paper it is not really as serious as it sounds," said counsel in asking for bail. " Accused came homo under the influence of liquor and got hold of an old pea-rifle. He certainly said he would ' do in' a member of his family, hut he had no ammunition. His step-father laid the charge against him." The magistrate, Mr. F. Iv. Hunt: Does the step-father agree to accused being on bail ?
Counsel: Yes. Wendel was remanded until Monday on bail of £SO.
