DEATH ON GOLF LINKS.

PLAYER'S SUDDEN COLLAPSE. DR. HENRY JOHN McLEAN. WELLINGTON PORT OFFICER. [BY TELEGRAPII. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Friday. Dr. Henry John McLean, of Wellington, wo had been on a visit to Rolorua, collapsed and died while playing a round of golf with his friend, Mr. T. R. Lawson, also of Wellington. At about 3.30 p.m., at the sixth hole. Dr. McLean got bunkered and he played out and was about to take his putt, when he collapsed. Dr. McKnight., of Ohine mutu, who was playing close to hiin. went to his assistance, but life was oxtinct. No inquest will be held, as the deceased's medical adviser in Wellington will certify as to the cause of death. Dr. McLean took bis degree at Edin burgh in 1900. He served in the war with the New Zealand Forces, first in Palestine with the Mounted Field Ambulance. He was promoted to assistant-director of medical services in France und he commanded the 4th Field Ambulance. After his return to New Zealand he settled in Wellington and was appointed port health officer. He held t his position at the time of his death. He was not married. He had ono brother, who arrived in Rotorua to-day, and two sisters. One I is the lady principal of Wellington Girls' College. Dr. McLean was a well-known golfer.
