CANADIAN TARIFF.

NEW BOARD CONSTITUTED. POWERS AND DUTIES. OTTAWA, May 15. Three members will constitute the new Tariff Board, which, in addition to inquiring into tariff matters, will exercise some of the functions now exercised by officials of tho Department of National Revenue, and the combines investigation branch. The Prime Minister, Mr. 11. B. Bennett, informed the House of Commons that (lie board will bo a Court of Record, with power to examine witnesses under oath and to compel their attendance. It will report direct to the Minister of Finance. The board's duties will include the investigation of the cost of raw materials in Canada and other countries, tho cost of transportation, and all factors entering into cost of production. It will make recommendations as to the tariff necessary to equalise costs of production in Canada with those in other countries.
