GARDEN PARTY.

A garden party was held on Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. W. A Johnson, wife of the commodore of the Takapuna Boating Club, in Beresford Street, Bayswater. The function was held to raise funds to complete the building of slipways on the hauling-out aieas for the club's boats moored in Shoal Bay.

Tennis matches, bowls and a miniature golf competition were arranged. Those successful in the tennis matches were: Mixed doubles, Miss G. Piggot and Mr. J. Law; ladies' doubles, Mrs. Johnson and Miss M. Forsyth; men's doubles, Messrs. Johnson and Blampied; men's singles, Mr. Brookbanks; ladies singles, Miss G. Piggot. '1 he golt, in charge of Mr. W. Warner, was won by Mr. It. Tabuteau, with a score of 37. A sweet stall, ir: the charge of Mrs. Blackwell. was well patronised. Among those present were: —Mesdames J. Mackav. Wallace Johnston, Brinsden, Blampied. Whitehorn, Blackwell, Williamson, F. Nherrit, 11. Haywood, Forties, lvlwards, Powell, 11. A. Johnston, IToverd, Johnston (senr.), and the Misses M. Forsyth, M. Curry, V. Homes, Hunter, G. Piggot,, .J. J. Mackav. T. Waddell. Afternoon loa was served bv the ladies of the club's social committee.
