PROTECTION FOR GROWERS. PRIME MINISTER'S ESTIMATE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] "WELLINGTON, Saturday. The rffocf, t Jig reduced protection proposed for next season's wheat harvest would have as far as the growers wero concerned was explained by the Prime Minister, Iho Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, to-day. He said there appeared to be some misapprehension respecting the results which the proposed reduction in the duties on wheat and flour would have on the price which the New Zealand grower .would i/eceive for his wheat. The protection, the Prime Minister said, should work out at a price of 4s fjd a bushel on trucks at country stations, eacks being extra.
