HOUSEHOLD SOAP.

This is a good household soap, without caustic: To four gallons water add 61b. washing soda and 31b. lime and boil two hours. Stand aside till cold, strain, heat tho water again, and stir in three tablespoons borax, l£lb. resin, and clarified fat. Boil slowly for half-an-hour, and turn into tight box lined with coarse fabric. When cold cut into bars. To clarify fat, boil it in water In a kerosene tin, allow to cool, scrape off scum, and break up.
