PROFESSIONAL TENNIS.
QUALIFYING PERIOD FIXED. The following resolution has been .passed by llie British Laivn Tennis Professionals' Association :—That amateurs who become professionals shall not be eligible to compete in professional competitions until a qualifying period of not less than six months has expired since becoming a professional." The object of the rule is statech to be "to prevent players who have competed in ijmateur tournaments during the summer season from turning professional and playing in the paid class in the same season."
