CRASH AT SPEEDWAY.

MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED.

FALL ON MANGERE TRACK.

Lacerated body wounds were received by a motor-cyclist, Stanley Hieatt, aged 17, of Portage Road, Otaliuhu, as a result of a crash at Henning's Speedway, Mangere, yesterday afternoon. Several riders had gone to the track to practice, and Hieatt, who was riding an ordinary road machine without any special equipment for track work, was cornering to enter the home straight when his machine started a speed wobble, unseating the rider. Hieatt was thrown heavily, striking his machine as he fell. Other riders at the speedway estimated his speed at about 50 miles an hour when he crashed. The injured rider was immediately taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition is not serious.
