ANGLING AT TAUPO.
UNFAVOURABLE WEATHER. ACTIVITIES IN THE RIVERS. [from our own correspondent.] TAUPO, Tuesday. Weather conditions for the past week at Taupo have not been favourable to anglers, a strong south-westerly wind making fishing on the eastern side of the lake difficult. The river fishing is still hard, owing to the dry spell. The launches have been quiet. Tokaanu Bay is still fishing well and good catches aro recorded, the fish being in excellent condition. The Tongariro River is still very hard. Two anglers who have been camped there for the past fortnight have averaged six fish a day on the river and tho mouth, the average weight being a shade over 61b. Fishing at tho Delta still remains good. Six anglers camped there are enjoying excellent sport, taking fish up to with catches of six and seven fish for the evening.
The Tauranga-Taupo is not fishing well through the want of rain. Motutere and Jellicoe Points have been very littlo fished. Tho Waitahanui is fishing well when the weather is suitable. Several anglers took from 10 to 20 fish for the week, all the fish being in splendid condition. Dry fly fishing above the Huka Falls is still good, experienced anglers picking up four to five fish in the evenings.
