UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF.
WORK AT PAPAKURA. A total of £536 has been spent in Papakura under tlie No. 5 schcmo for unemployment relief, according' to a statement presented at a. special meeting of the Papakura Town Hoard last evening. Tho chairman of the Works Committee, Mr. D. Weir, reported that all works undertaken had been reasonably well carried out, taking into consideration the lack of adequate equipment for the large number of men employed. Important road reconstruction and oilier work had been done.
It was decided that as the. No. 5 scheme would cease on April 11, no further action would be taken in regard to unemployment relief until a Government announcement was made.
