The challengers will require to score 253 runs in their second innings, which will bo played tomorrow, in order to win. Continuing the first, innings-. Manawatu, which had made SH runs for five wickets at stumps on Saturday, only added a further Ifi to the total. McVicar and Long. Iho not out men. were not long together when the latter player was slumped in attempting a short, run before he had increased his score. McVicar had added four to his tolnl of 2fi when he was caught in the slips by Going off Badeley.' The remaining batsmen failed lamentably. South Auckland, in its second innings, compiled 2:jt runs, of which Cassid.v, the top scorer, contributed 03. Skeet. 11. Hawke, 18, Hampton, 13, Winger, K>, and •Badeley, It. were the best of the remainder.
