AUTUMN HANDICAP FIELD. CORINAX AND LADY PAM. KARAPOTI LEGER FAVOURITE. REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS. Good fields are carded for (lie conclusion of the Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting at Ellerslie to day, and another interesting day's racing should result. The leading events will ho the Autumn Handicap and the Great Northern St. Leger. and both races are bound to create plenty of interest, although there does not appear to be anything good enough in the field to seriously trouble Karapoti in the St. Leger. The following is Iho list of acceptances, with a. review of the prospects in each race by "Archer":— 11.32.—NELSON HANDICAP. Of £350; 1 mile. St. 11). Bt. lb. Form on the first day points to Manawhenua, Rafflight and Spearlad running well, but there are some likely newcomerß in Pakitere, Catoma. Turin Park. Jalldy Kara and Jenny Diver. There are also several other possibilities, and the issue is very open. Good support may be accorded to RAFFLIGHT. PUIHIM PARK. JENNY DIVER. 12.17.—VICTORIA HANDICAP. (Easter 'lime won so well oil Saturday that, ho should again ho very difficult to beat in epito of his bis weight. Petor Jackson, who was badly drawn nt the post on (he fii'nt day, can bo relied upon to make a good showing. Royal Artist is a newcomer who will be very troublesome, and tho bent of the others may be Soloist, Brazanna and Cape Gold. Iho favourites may bo PETER JACKSON. ROYAIi ARTIST. SOLOIST. I.2.—ST. Lack of recent racing might tell against Pompeius, but Cruachan is very well and will bo difficult to beat. Lucess should make a good showing in the class, and on his Brighton Hurdles form should beat Quinsilia. whoso recent form has been better than that of most o£ tho candidates. High Pitch did not shape too well at Te Aroha, but if lie jumps correctly he should hava good prospects in this company. Investors may show a pivference for

The distance might trouble Sir Mond, but Lady Pam. My Own and Bright Glow should all bo capable of sound efforts, particularly Lady Pam. The best of the othex may be Motere, who looks very well, and Gny Cockade. There may be good aupport for C'ORINAX. LADY PAM. MOTERE. 2.37.—AUTUMt* STEEPLECHASE. Karapoti overshadows tho opposition, and should again demonstrate that ho is tho outstanding three-year-old of the season. The favourite will undoubtedly be KARAPOTI. 4.7—KUIA HANDICAP, Of £550; 6 fur. st. lb. st. lb. Lady P am stood right out from he others in the Great Northern Oaks and investors had no hesitation in making her a hot favourite, nearly three times as well hacked as the second fancy. Jenny Diver. Mr. Kemball's good filly justified the confidence reposed in her and made light of hor task by winning very easily. Trickle and Grand Spirit appeared to get squeezed at the start, but when the field ifld reached the stands Trickle was in command from Jenny Diver and Lady Pam. The field bunched up closely five furlongs from home, when Valmarie and Grand Spirit moved up quickly. Lady Pam. Valmarie and Grand Spirit were the lenders at the half-mile and they came into the straight ahead of Jenny Diver and Pakitere. Nothing had a chance with Lady Pam in tho run home and she won by a length and a-lialf from Valmarie. Jenny Diver was two lengths away third and boot Rule was fourth. Next followed Gay Idea, Pakitere and Grand Spirit. Lady Pam was a clnss above the others and at no stage looked like being beaten. Her victory brought her total winnings to £3705. Valmarie made a very solid showing to return a nice price for second, but Jenny Diver did not do as well as expected after having every chance. Gay Idea was troubled by the going, and, after making an effort half-way down the straight, faded again near tho post. Grand Spirit went well for about a mile and a-quarter and may be worth remembering in hack company.
