CYCLIST KILLED.
COLLISION AT ONEHUNGA.
TWO MACHINES INVOLVED. OTHER RIDER GRAVELY INJURED. As a result of a motor-cycle collision near the Mangero Bridge, Oneliunga, yesterday morning, one young man was fatally injured and the other is now lying in the Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.
Mr. Frank Edmund Riesterer, aged 21, a single man, residing at 264, Queen Street, Oneliunga, had his skull and left leg fractured, and died from his injuries at two o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. William Robert Wright, married, of 33, Queen Street, Oneliunga, had his left leg broken in tlireo places, and his condition at a latc> hour last evening was still serious.
The collision occurred shortly after eight o'clock, and the noise of the impact was heard some distance away. Mr. Riestercr, a milk vendor, was driving his cycle, in the course of his round, from the bridge in the direction of Oneliunga, and Mr. Wright, a well-known launchowner, was going io the Onehunga Wharf.
The machines collided near the tramlines. Mr. Riesferer was thrown over tlio handlebars of his cycle, and his head was injured when he struck the footpath. Mr. Wright received the full force of the impact upon his left leg. Both machines were damaged extensively. The front wheel of Mr. Riesterer's cycle, to which a milk-carrier was attached, was crumpled, and milk from the cans was spilt over the road. The front wheel of the other cycle was wrecked and tha side-car was crumpled. A quick run ficm the city v. as made by the St. John Ambulance and after the injured men had teen attended by Dr. J. Kirkwood they were removed to the hospital.
