SURPRISED IN SHOP.
ARREST OF INTRUDER.
STRUGGLE WITH CONSTABLE.
Surprised in a shop at Newmarket late last evening, an intruder was arrested by Constable Hendren, of the Newmarket Polico.
A young man standing in Broadway shortly before 11 o'clock noticed that a man was paying suspicious attention to tho front door of the chemist's shop of David Teed, Limited, and lie watched until the man disappeared within tho shop. He then informed Constable Hendren, who was on tho opposite sido of the street.
The constable entered the shop and found tho man inside. After a short struggle he overpowered him and escorted him to the central police station. It was found that about £1 in small change had been stolen from tho till, which was left open.
The man, who is about 40, will appear in the Polico Court this morning.
