HARBOUR BRIDGE SCHEME.
BILL BEING DRAFTED.
EARLY CONSIDERATION LIKELY.
Following the receipt of a letter from the Auckland Harbour Bridge Company, intimating that the bill granting a charter would be brought before the ■, present special session of Parliament, the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening decided to submit the bill to its solicitor for perusal, and to invite the solicitor, to be present at a special meeting of the council next Wednesday. / The letter from the secretary of the company was as follows:—"The reports of the various local bodies having been forwarded to the Prime Minister, he has advised our company to proceed immediately with the drafting of the bill. The Prime Minister has promised us that, providing a satisfactory decision is arrived at between the local bodies arid bur company, l]e will give this matter immediate attention, and will 'include it as a Government bill to come before Hie special session of Parliament."
The bill will also be considered at a spocial mooting ol the Takapuna Borough Council next Wednesday evening.
