FARMERS' LIABILITIES.
S:r.—l notice that Mr. Poison, M P., considers our Government should arrange to back fertiliser companies, so that they could extend long credit to dairy factories, farmers' co-operative concerns, etc., which would in its turn be passed on to the farmers, giving them manures with probably 12 months in .which to pay. This is all very well, but if farmers do not get immediate relief in the way of interest there will not be many of us left on our farms to partake of the suggested advantage, when it comes along. If our Prime Minister and members of Parliament will at once arrange to give farmers relief in the way of interest (reduced by hair, both Government and private mortgage.';), present mortgages to remain as they are, it would save us all. Things may cheer up directly.. This reduction in interest to stand good till our butter-fat reaches at least Is 4d per lb. once more. We could then with safety go back to for.ner rates of interest, and no one would be hurt. What hundreds of farmers want is immediate relief in the rate of interest. If we do not get it, and within the next three months, many of us will not be on the farms to receive the lic.lp Mr. Poison, proposes. In any case, we all expect a 10 per cent, reduction in tho prico of fertiliser when the cut in wage.'i comes into force. Without a doubt our mosli urgent-need lsia reduction in intereiit. Our incomes Slave been cut down by one-half, for the past 12 months. Where is the money coming from to moe'; our usual liabilities ? Worried Farmer
