RETURN FOR FEBRUARY.
Building permits representing work valued at £34,375 were issued v by the Auckland City Council in February. Only two large contracts are included in the total, namely, a market building for Central Produce Market, Ijimitcd, £9856, rtn:l tlio new car repair depot for the Railway Department, £7968. A swimming bath in Epsom Avenue, for tho Education Department, at £I3OO, appears in tin 1 . list. The following are tho totals for tho first two months of this year and of last year:— 1931. 1930. £ £ January .. 18,588 63,ir>5 February • . 34,375 59,746 £52,961 X 122,911 '.the number of dwellings for which permits were issued in February was six and in January eight. The figures for tlic. same months of last year were 23 and 28.
