SIXTY YEARS AS FIRE-FIGHTER.
Who is the oldest firefighter? There is a challenger at Rockdale, Lincolnshire, to the 51 years claimed by Superintendent J. B. Brooke, of Heckmondwike.
Sixty years in the fire brigade service is the claim of ex-Superintendent Pearson, who is now, at thii age of 71 chief fire inspector for nine Rochdale' mills. He was 11 when he became call boy at a local station near Rochdale. He then joined ; the Manchester brigade, from which he was appointed superintendent of tho Rochdale Brigade
