IGNORED BY KING.

ALLIES' FORMER ENEMY.

RUPPRECHT OF BAVARIA.

VAIN RECONCILIATION MOVE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON. Feb. 15. It is reported that Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria, after a secret visit to England extending over 10 days, which he paid with the object of securing a reconciliation with the British Rbyal Family, left London by air bitterly disappointed by King George's refusal to receive him. Extraordinary reticenco is maintained about the visit, but it is known that Rupprecht was entertained by distinguished members of society and stayed at the Ritz Hotel, where he was the guest of honour at a luncheon at which FieldMarshal Sir William Robertson is said to have been present. Rupprecht spent the week-end in the country. He visited Oxford and also Windsor, where he joined Rome tourists who were inspecting the Staie apartments in the Castle. The visitor postponed his departure hoping in vain for a summons to attend Buckingham Palace.

The Sunday News recalls that Rupprecht, at the time of the Great War, described the English as: " Our most hated enemies." The Allies charged him with brutality and pillage and accused him of being the first commander to use poisongas. Now he is living in comparative poverty in a small wing of the palace at Munich, the remainder of which has been converted into flats.
