POWER SALES INCREASE.

ADVANCES TO CONSUMERS,,

THE WAITEMATA BOARD.

An increase of £6133 in the gross sales of power for the nine months, ended December 31, 1930, compared with th» corresponding period in 1929, was reported by the secretary at a meeting of the Waitemata Electric-Power Board yesterday. During (he past nine months 498 new connections were made. The 1 trading account for the period showed a profit of £6O. The chairman, Mr. G. Trevithick, said the board was in a very good position with regard to its advances. During the past nine months repayments of principal and interest on account of advances for financial assistance 'totalled £3154. The balance of* advances outstanding had been reduced to £4272. The board had advanced over £40,000 to assist consumers to obtain the benefits of electricity, and! also to assist the revenue of the undertaking. All but £4272 of the £40,000 had now been repaid. All overdue final acconnts sent to the board's solicitors for recovery during the past three years had been satisfactorily settled anil in no instance had the board to exercise its powtirs of sale.
