RECOVERIES AT NAPIER.
ONLY FIVE IDENTIFIED. PARTICULARS OF OTHERS. SMALL CHANCE OF RECOGNITION. [BY XELEQRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.] s NAPIER. Monday. The remains of 13 persons were discovered during excavation work to-day. Five of these were identified and the funeral took place this afternoon. Tho following are the names of those identified Frederick James Grant, aged 16. Found in Technical School. Valentine Joseph Harrison, aged 18. found in doorway Daily Telegraph office. (Previously reported dead.) William George Johnson, aged 42, married, mercer. Buyer for McGruer's, Ltd. Stanley George Venables, aged 16. Found in hospital. Resident of Haurnoana. Samuel Walker, aged 37, single. Recovered from Public Hospital, where ho was employed. The charred remains of four persons were found under the .verandah of. McGruer's drapery store. Identification is possible only by trinkets. Another body was found in the rear of the Bank of New South Wales premises, Herschel Street, in Thorpe's 6hoe store. It is thought to bo that of a shoemaker. One body was found in the dining room of the Masonic Hotel and one outside that hotel near an orange drink stall. CONDITION OF INJURED. MORE ADMISSIONS MADE. SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. The following patients have been admitted to the Convent Hospital:— Mr. Abbott, 704, Karamu Road, Hastings (hospital transfer), satisfactory. Miss F. Berry, 84, McGrath Street, Napier, bruised thigh. Sister Carnice, Greenwood Convent, Napier, bruises to thigh, satisfactory. H. Davey, 2, Wellesley Road, Napier North, cardiac, satisfactory. Alfred Downey, 8, Miller Street, Napier, head injury, satisfactory. F. Dunn, 12, Harding Road, Napier (hospital transfer), fairly satisfactory. A. E. Gardiner, 5, Shakespeare Road, Napier, shock, satisfactory. Mrs. C. Hill, 49, Shakespeare Road. Napier, shock, fairly satisfactory. Mrs. Hopkins, Napier (hospital transfer). Phyllis Johnston, 53, Harding Street, Napier, abdominal trouble, satisfactory. W. Knight, Maraekakaho, shock, satisfactory. A. Le Bass, Winifred Street, Napier, shock, satisfactory. F. R. Williams, 1, Thistle Street, Napier South (hospital transfer), satisfactory, gone to friends. CARD RECORD SYSTEM. TALLY ON 450 CASES. HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S WORK. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Monday. A complete card record system has been established in connection with all hospital cases evacuated from Napier and Hastings and received into other hospitals. Four hundred and fifty cases are recorded and in each case the namo of the patient, the nature of tho injury and the condition of the patient are shown. The records are kept .at tho Health Department, Wellington, and brought up-to-date daily, Information regarding any patient can thus be readily obtafned.

Sister Dillon, who was in charge oE the mortuary depot, has made the following report " Within an hour of the earthquake occurring a mortuary hospital was established. By the end of the day nearly 50 bodies had been cared for. They were checked by a records officer and the police and numbered by a sister, the police chocking the numbers. A number was attached to the coffin, which tho graveside officials also checked. Relations and friends only were allowed to view tho bodies for identification. "It must bo understood that some bodies were beyond tho possibility of identification. Words fail to express • the fine depth of courtesy, gentleness and reverence shown by the police in handling tho dead. Magnificent work was done by all the undertakers who worked day and night. "After mid-day on Saturday no more dead were received. Tho clergy report that all burials were properly conducted and the graves are being properly tended."
APPEAL FOR CLOTHING.
NAPIER RELIEF COMMITTEE.
An appeal for men's clothing is made by the Napier Rcliof Committeo in a message sent out by a private wireless station at Hastings. This, states:— "Urgently require supplies of men's clothing, hlso »inder-clothing, socks and boots, as the men who are working in many case 3 havo only 111© clothing they stand up in."
