VISITORS TO LONDON.
STILL MANY AUSTRALIANS. OTHERS SEEK ASSISTANCE. LONDON, Fob. 3. Australians are warned against seeking work in Britain. Jobs there are scarce and many are sorry they left Australia. In spito of the falling exchange rate, Australian visitors to London, are still numerous. At least 30 a day sign the Australia House library register, comparing with the best winter averages during recent years.
The number of those applying for assistance is increasing. The applicants are mostly recent arrivals. An Australia House official said they were obliged to refuse all applications, though they sympathised with many. " Several have been attracted by reports that unemployment is almost unknown in France. I heard of three such cases this week. All were offered jobs by French firms, who insisted to the French police that their services were most necessary, but the police refused permits, declaring that the jobs could be filled by Frenchmen.
