WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
WHAKATANE. Tho monthly meeting oi the above institute was held in the parish hall, .en Tuesday February 3, Mrs. Buddie pre:siding. An address on " Local History " was given by Dr. J. C. Wadmore, after which business discussions and the forming of sub-committees occupied the remainder of the afternoon. The hostesses in charge of tea were Mesdamts A. G. Oarke, W. Boon, It. Campbell and W. W. Sniodley. Proceedings closed with the singing of the National Anthem. OHINEWAI. The members of the Ohinewai Women » Institute held an open-air meeting, but the day being bleak, thei'o was not such a good attendance as usual, but thos« present, spent a most enjoyable time, and after tho usual business had been dealt with a general discussion on different topics of interest took place.
