DAMAGE BY FIRE.
CHEESE FACTORY BURNED. NOTHING SAVED FROM FLAMES. [t!V TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANCtANUI, Sunday. The Turakina cheese factory was burned to tho ground at an early' hour this morning. Nothing was saved. The factory produced about 200 tons of cheese a year and had about 25 suppliers. HOUSE BADLY DAMAGED. GOOD SAVE BY BRIGADE. Extensive damage was caused by fire last evening to a five-roomed wooden house at 27, Dedwocd Terrace, Ponsonby, occupied by Mrs. F. M. Griffith. Mrs. Griffith left tho houso early in tho evening and returned to find the firemen in possession. Tho fire was noticed by a youth living opposite. When the City Brigade arrived flames wero mounting high from one side of tho house. Although tho outbreak had a good hold a strong stream of water was available and an excellent save was made.
The firo evidently began in the hall and spread to a front room, which was gutted. The ceiling and walls of tho hall were burned through and tho lire damaged parts of other rooms. Tho house is owned by Mr. Olsen, of 26, Mackelvio Street, Grey Lynn.
