OBITUARY.

DR. CHARLES SWANSTON. The death of Dr. Charles Swanston occurred at liis residence, 27, Symonds Street, Auckland, on Saturday evening. Dr. Swanston, who was more than 70 years of age, was the son of the late Mr. Charles Lambert Swanston, who was a station-owner in Victoria. His grandfather, Captain Charles Swanston, was governor of the Bank of Van Dicinen's Land, and afterwards acquired largo interests in Victoria, Swanston Street, Melbourne, being named after him. Dr. Swanston was educated at Repton and Bonn University, finally taking his degreo in Edinburgh. He was intended for the army, but instead went into the medical profession. After qualifying ho was for two years in the Orient service, afterwards practising in Mudgee, New South Wales, for 10 years. 110 then received a commission as captain in tho per-, ma iieut forces of New South Wales, retiring after five years' service. Ho went to Western Australia, and after being there for about 15 years camo to New Zealand. During tho war ho was appointed captain in tho New Zealand Forces in charge of the military hospital in Rotorua. 110 had since practised in Auckland. Deceased was a prominent Mason and a member of tho Auckland Club, and V-as held in high esteem by his fellow practitioners. The funeral will be held this afternoon. MRS. W. MITCHELL. The death has occurred of Mrs. W. Mitchell, of Carterton, Wairarapa, and formerly of Petone and Onehunga. A loyal member of the Presbyterian Church. ' Mrs. Mitchell had given of her best, and had been a valued Sunday School teacher and choir member, in addition to her other good work. Many soldiers from tho north found her homo at Petone au oasis of hospitality when on leave from Trentham. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband and two daughters, Misses M. and K. Mitchell. MRS. HENRIETTA FISH. The death of Mrs. Henrietta Fish, aged 81, widow of the late Mr. Joseph Henry Fish, occurred at her homo, 41, Grange Road, Mount Eden. Mrs. Fish arrived at Auckland from England with her parents in the vessel William Miles in 1862. The. passengers wro brought out under the Albertland settlers' scheme, but the parents of Mrs Fish sold their land there and came to Auckland. Mrs. Fish claimed to have, been the first woman (o go through the Parnell railway tunnel. She was married in St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, and Mr. arid Mrs. Fish celebrated their golden wedding iri April, 1920. MOTHER ST. DOMINIC. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN' COBRESPON DENT. ] CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. The death has occurred of Mother M. St. Dominic (Kalherino Fleming), aged 75 years. She was born in Ireland in 1856, and came to New Zealand when finite young. In .1881, slio /inlered the Institute Notre Dame do Missions at Napier, and for very many years worked at Nelson. Following her departure she was in charge of convents at Panmure, Lower Ilntt, Puke.kohe, Stratford and Inglewood. Sisl or Mary Ignatius, ol Greenmoadows, who was killed ill the Ilawke's Bay earthquake, was her sister. MR. M. B. MACKENZIE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Sunday. The. death has occurred of Mr. Maxwell Bruce Mackenzie, of Morrinsville, at the ago rtf 63 years'. Mr. Mackenzie was born in Scotland, and arrived in Dunedin 50 vears ago. For tho last 3<? years lie had 'lived in Morrinsville, where ho carried on business as a builder and joiner. Mr. Mackenzie was a past master of tho Piako Masonic Lodge. Ho is survived by six daughters and ono son.
